Update on Linda Lorimer, School Nurse

Dear O.G.M.S. Families and Friends:

Due to ongoing health concerns, Mrs. Lorimer, our school nurse, will not be returning to Orange Grove Middle School for the remainder of this year.  She has also indicated that she will retire at the end of the 2016-2017 school year. 

Mrs. Lorimer has been a School Nurse in Catalina Foothills School District since 1995, having worked at Ventana Vista Elementary, Canyon View Elementary, Esperero Canyon Middle School, and since 2004, at Orange Grove Middle School.  She had an extremely rewarding and diverse Nursing career.  In her words, “It has been a privilege to work with and care for the children/students in Catalina Foothills School District, especially the Orange Grove family of students.”

We wish Mrs. Lorimer well on her recovery.  We will be hiring a replacement for Mrs. Lorimer and will keep you informed about that process.  In the meantime, we have two qualified substitute nurses, Allison Holmes and Lyndee Jones, who will continue to provide excellent medical attention to your child.  We know you join us in sending Mrs. Lorimer our best.

I am excited for our new school year to begin.  It will be wonderful to have students back on campus.  A special welcome to our new sixth grade families from Manzanita, Sunrise Drive and other elementary schools!   The staff at Orange Grove Middle School extends a warm welcome to all new and returning families. Please contact us if we can do anything to support a smooth transition into the school year for your child. Counselor's Corner December Edition The theme of the month is “Kindness”, which blends well with the Holiday Season upon us.  In the hustle and bustle of all December brings, it’s important to step back, take a breath, and reflect on the season’s true meaning. Celebrating family traditions of kindness and giving, or starting new ones, is a great way to reconnect with your middle school child. Need some ideas? Here are a few: Volunteer at an animal shelter.  Donate towels or your time, both would be greatly appreciated. Also, consider sponsoring an adoption which will allow a cat or dog a better chance of finding a forever home. Visit a nursing home and spend time talking with the residents.   Volunteer at a homeless shelter preparing and serving meals. Go to the grocery store together to buy food for a charity.
