December Edition

The theme of the month is “Kindness”, which blends well with the Holiday Season upon us.  In the hustle and bustle of all December brings, it’s important to step back, take a breath, and reflect on the season’s true meaning.

Celebrating family traditions of kindness and giving, or starting new ones, is a great way to reconnect with your middle school child. Need some ideas? Here are a few:

  • Volunteer at an animal shelter.  Donate towels or your time, both would be greatly appreciated. Also, consider sponsoring an adoption which will allow a cat or dog a better chance of finding a forever home.
  • Visit a nursing home and spend time talking with the residents.  
  • Volunteer at a homeless shelter preparing and serving meals.
  • Go to the grocery store together to buy food for a charity.
  • Donate money to your favorite charity.

We respectfully request that you complete the  registration  process as soon as possible to ensure that the district has accurate enrollment numbers to plan for the next school year.                                  ↑↑↑ ←←← Current Open Enrollment  families may  not   register  students at this time. You will be notified by the Superintendent if your student has been accepted to OGMS through the Open Enrollment Program, and you will receive instructions about registering your student(s) at that time.

Dr. Julie Nikolas, Assistant Principal - I am excited to be a part of CFSD! I choose to serve in education because I believe the mind is beautiful & I love helping others. I grew up in South Dakota & earned my professional degrees in Educational Leadership from the University of South Dakota. I completed undergraduate degrees at Northern State University in elementary/middle school education and K-12 Music Education. This year I am blessed to serve as the Assistant Principal at OGMS and as a Learning Support Specialist for the District. I dedicated my professional life to 22+ years classroom teaching and 15+ years leadership, supervision, human resources, and training & development. I love learning. I am a widow but have a wonderfully supportive and fun family with two children enrolled in college.
