OGMS Cultural Luncheon
A Celebration of Diversity


January 26, 2017

Share a very special event and dine with your child during their regular lunch period.  We will feature delicious cultural delicacies highlighting the cuisine of Germany, India and Vietnam!  This event will showcase the talents of our visual and performing arts program.

Our Menu includes:
Schweinenbraten (roast pork with caraway and mustard) with Sauerkraut and Rice
Tandoori Chicken with vegetable brown rice
Bahn Mi sandwich (seasoned turkey filling. topped with Asian slaw, cucumber slices, cilantro, sliced onion and jalepenos) with vegetable brown rice
Cinnamon apples

Parents, please RSVP by Friday January 20th to 209-8201
(Students do not need an RSVP for this special luncheon celebration.)

Dr. Julie Nikolas, Assistant Principal - I am excited to be a part of CFSD! I choose to serve in education because I believe the mind is beautiful & I love helping others. I grew up in South Dakota & earned my professional degrees in Educational Leadership from the University of South Dakota. I am excited for our new school year to begin.  It will be wonderful to have students back on campus.  A special welcome to our new sixth grade families from Manzanita, Sunrise Drive and other elementary schools!   The staff at Orange Grove Middle School extends a warm welcome to all new and returning families. Please contact us if we can do anything to support a smooth transition into the school year for your child. At Orange Grove Middle School, we receive students who have been prepared at the elementary level, and in turn, we prepare them to transition smoothly to the high school level.   This preparedness begins on day one as we begin to help students gain a sense of belonging and we help our young adolescents develop ownership for their learning.   Taking ownership for one’s learning is David Conley and his research team’s work.   Teachers and staff will model and express the importance of what it is to be persistent, self-aware, seek help and ...

Counselor's Corner December Edition The theme of the month is “Kindness”, which blends well with the Holiday Season upon us.  In the hustle and bustle of all December brings, it’s important to step back, take a breath, and reflect on the season’s true meaning. Celebrating family traditions of kindness and giving, or starting new ones, is a great way to reconnect with your middle school child. Need some ideas? Here are a few: Volunteer at an animal shelter.  Donate towels or your time, both would be greatly appreciated. Also, consider sponsoring an adoption which will allow a cat or dog a better chance of finding a forever home. Visit a nursing home and spend time talking with the residents.   Volunteer at a homeless shelter preparing and serving meals. Go to the grocery store together to buy food for a charity.
